My Vision in Photography

Kendra Plumberg, Son's Joy Photography

To capture the moments we can't get back.

Our lives are full of moments in time. Moments that God uses to change us and shape us into who we are. Those moments may be big or sometimes small. For children it is a year passing as they get a little taller and a little wiser. For teens it is the ending of the season of childhood while walking into adulthood. As adults it is the changing of seasons in life: graduation, marriage, becoming parents, grandparents, celebrating another birthday. All of these times can be full of moments God uses to remind us of who He is and who He has called us to be.

Why portraits?

I like having people as my subjects because there are so many emotions that I am able to capture with my lens: joy, love, kindness, excitement on their face or in their body language. To take a picture of a child who is so excited about what they are doing or to see the joy on a groom's face when he sees his bride for the first time is an amazing gift. It is a window through which others are letting you into their lives. We can see so many of these things every day, but soon the moments pass and are gone. But when these moments are captured in a photo, that one picture can bring these moments flooding back into our minds as vividly if it had just happened.

"There are always two people in every picture: the photographer and the viewer."
